Exiso-GUI

2026 update: this topic dates from 2011 and the tools have changed since. The up-to-date method is in our tutorial Original Xbox: creating and converting your ISOs in 2026 (extract-xiso, Repackinator, xemu).

Exiso-GUI
Image unavailable (removed by its host) Schmurtz, a GXMOD member, has just released a new version of Exiso-Gui.

I'll let him present his creation
I created a small, unpretentious interface for Extract-xiso, the xbox 360 version.

The goal is to make using Extract-xiso more user-friendly, by making it possible to extract several isos to the computer or directly to the XBOX's FTP thanks to a queue list.
After uploading your games via FTP, it's nice to use Quickboot from XeDev to create the shortcuts that will appear directly in the dashboard. To help create these shortcuts, Extract-xiso-GUI is also able to create a directory tree on your PC that will let you build this menu very quickly. The idea is simple: Exiso-GUI will grab the default.xex in each subfolder and copy it locally onto your PC.

Features:

- xbox 360 iso extraction, locally or directly to FTP
- queue list management (you can extract several isos one after another)
- small FTP client (Lets you browse to select a destination folder, upload, retrieve a file, etc.)
- local directory tree generation for quickboot (lets you generate a menu very quickly using Quickboot)

Limitations:

- The FTP part currently only works with XeXmenu
- FTP extraction only works on port 21 (however QuickBoot menu maker works on any port)

Usage:

-> Extracting an iso:
- Launch Exiso-GUI.exe
- Select a destination type (local or FTP) then click "Browse" (2) to specify the folder in question.

- To add an iso to the queue, several options are possible:

- Click "add an iso image" and select an iso image
- drag and drop one (or several).iso file(s) directly into the list of ISOs waiting for extraction (making sure to choose a destination path first)
- Click "Load a folder containing several ISOs" to add all the isos in a folder to the extraction list.

- Add each of your isos the same way; once done, click "Go!" (4)
- Be patient, xiso's progress is shown in the window at the bottom (5), 7GB sent over FTP = about 15 minutes. (Since version 1.0.0.7 you can pause the extraction by clicking the icon that appears at the bottom right of the text area during an extraction)
- failed extractions appear in red, click on them to display the corresponding area in the extraction logs (the most common error is that a folder already exists)
Image unavailable (removed by its host) -> Generating an extraction for quickboot:
- Your games must be in a "games" directory
- Launch Exiso-GUI.exe
- Click the FTP tab (1)
- Fill in the "IP address", user and password fields then click "connect" (2)
- The list of xbox drives should appear (3), navigate to the root directory of your games, e.g. "/HDD1/games"
- Click the "QuickBoot maker" button (4)
- Once the operation is finished you'll have a "games" directory at the root of c:. Launch the Quickboot utility from the XeDEV team, click the button
"Scan Local" and select the "c:\games" directory just created. Your menu will be created, all that's left is to upload it.
Image unavailable (removed by its host) On Windows XP, Extract-xiso tends to crash if the firewall is enabled, so remember to temporarily disable it during the extraction.
On Windows Vista/Seven, run Extract-xiso_Gui as administrator.
Changelog
22/02/10 22:25 Version 1.0.0.1: fixed a few bugs
(fixed the path error for isos with spaces, fixed the folder-not-found error for quickboot maker)
23/02/10 02:00 Version 1.0.0.2: Added the ability to choose the FTP port.
24/02/10 00:10 Version 1.0.0.3: Fixed the file count on the FTP, more consistent message at the end of extraction.
24/02/10 00:45 Version 1.0.0.4:
- Implemented drag and drop (grab a.iso file and drop it into the field meant for that instead of using "browse")
- Error handling during extraction: items extracted successfully appear in green in the queue list and in red if they fail.
- fixed a bug in the destination path during a local extraction.
24/02/10 21:35 Version 1.0.0.5:
- ability to list the files contained in the iso before extraction.
- all actions are now logged in the history.log file
- various usability improvements
- fixed minor bugs
28/02/10 18:00 Version 1.0.0.6:
- Fixed bugs in extraction paths (no more ".iso" appended to folder names during an FTP extraction, no more inconsistent folder issues during local extractions).
- Greatly reduced CPU usage during extraction.
- Drag and drop of files now possible directly into the queue list.
- "Automatic iso search": lets you load all the isos contained in a folder (and its subfolders)
- Ability to add/remove isos from the queue list during the extraction process!
- Progress bars (total progress and progress of the current iso)
- Ability to stop automatic scrolling.
- displays the number of successful/failed/unprocessed extractions at the end.
- Added a "minimize" button to put the window in the taskbar
- Ability to stop an ongoing extraction (abrupt stop or wait for the last extraction to finish).
22/11/11 03:00 Version 1.0.0.7:
- updated exiso.exe: extract-xiso v2.6.3, now supports XGD3 type ISOs (modified by Aiyyo, Somski's version 2.7 is strongly discouraged because it
suffers from bugs in the FTP part).
- Simplified interface: improved usability and a few aesthetic points (tab order, more explicit button icons...)
- Double click an iso image in the list to display the files it contains
- A single click on an item that has already been processed lets you jump back to the right spot in the extraction logs
- ability to skip copying $SystemUpdate directories during extraction
- ability to pause an extraction
- the default destination (local or FTP) is now saved
- created an installer for those who have missing file (DLL) issues.
