Thank you for your understanding.
This tutorial is similar to the previous one. However, it uses OpenDNS and therefore doesn't need a PC to be turned on for the update blocking to work.
Here is a simple solution to offer you if you want to keep staying on 5.0/5.1/5.3.2 without having to move to 5.4.0 (firmware that blocks the WebKit flaw and the Kernel flaw)
This solution:
- Blocks all automatic updates
- Requires a PC with an internet connection only for the initial setup.
- If you have a dynamic IP, you'll need to update this IP on the OpenDNS servers via a PC to keep the block active.
- Lets you keep the WebKit flaw.
Prerequisites:
- Internet access on the PC and the Wii U (but above all don't leave the Wii U turned on before the process -> otherwise auto UPDATE)
- Always remember to update the IP on the OpenDNS servers if you have a dynamic IP.
- Create an account on OpenDNS (https://www.opendns.com/)
I] Creating the account on OpenDNS
Go to the address: https://www.opendns.com/
Click on For Personal.
Click on ""GET STARTED" below "PARENTAL CONTROLS"
Choose "DNS HOME" then "SIGN UP NOW".
You just need to fill in all the fields on the right to create your account.
Then go back to the home page and click on "Dashboard" at the top right.

IV] Configuration on the Wii U
Go into "console settings" then into "Internet" then "Internet Connection".
Press X.
Select "Do not automatically obtain DNS settings"
Set 208.67.222.222 as primary server and 208.67.220.220 as secondary server.
There you go, your Wii U is (normally) protected from updates
