It's a set of components dedicated to managing bluetooth within the wii. here it comes in the form of a card that connects to the wii's motherboard. Consoles, like pcs, are sort of complex lego sets.

The wiimote uses bluetooth and IR (Infrared)

So with the bluetooth function, you could for example play with your wiimote on a smartphone, nice for emulators.
