[TUTORIAL] Use of StartPatch for wii in 4.0/4.1!

StartPatch is a homebrew for wiis on 4.0/4.1, just like Starfall for 3.2, it lets you install patches directly on the wii system in order to unlock functions like the rescue menu, launching import games via the disc channel, blocking game updates, etc...

Here's a little tutorial showing you how to use StartPatch!

IMPORTANT : Neither me nor the Tgames forum can be held responsible for any problems resulting from using this tutorial. So know that you're using it at your own risk.

Required hardware:

- A European Wii on 4.0 or 4.1.
- A Gamecube controller for the Rescue menu.
- An SD card.
- A way to read your SD card via your computer.
- The Homebrew channel.
- The pack to download.


The pack contains: (Download the pack:Pack Ready To Use By Tgames.rar - 286 KB)


- StartPatch.

I) Preparing the SD card:
If you're on 4.0 E:
- Place the folder: "StartPatch4.0E" into the "apps" folder of your SD card.
If you're on 4.1 E:
- Place the folder: "StartPatch4.1E" into the "apps" folder of your SD card.

II) Using StartPatch:


- Put your SD card into your Wii.

Description of Patches

Remove NoCopy Protection: Patch to remove the copy limitation on protected saves (like Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart).
To fully enable it you need to install all 5 parts of the patch one by one!

Region Free Channels SD: Applying this patch will let you launch your import channels from the SD card menu!

Region Free Channels: Applying this patch will let you launch your import channels from the Wii menu!
To fully enable it you need to install all 3 parts of the patch one by one!

Remove diag disc Check: Removes the limitation that only autoboot discs can be launched from the Rescue menu.

Press Y NGC-PAD 1rt Port: Lets you launch the rescue menu by pressing the Y button on the Gamecube controller, (plugged into port 1), useful for debricking a wii.

No Health Check: The Wii health screen is automatically skipped on every startup.

Region Free Wii Disk: Applying this patch will let you launch your import games via the disc channel!

Region Free Wii: Addition to ensure a perfectly free region wii
To fully enable it you need to install all 3 parts of the patch one by one!

Skip Update Check: This patch lets you disable game updates via the disc channel.

No Menu bg music: This patch removes the Wii menu's background music.

Move Disc Channel: This patch lets you move the disc channel like any other wii channel.


- Choose the patch you want to apply
- Press A to install it or B to uninstall it

Careful: Sometimes you need to install several patches for a single patch.

For example with the patch Remove NoCopy Protection 1/5
You need to install one by one the other patches Remove Nocopy Protection 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 and 5/5.
That way the patch will be fully installed.


- Once you're done, go to "Save" (all the way at the bottom)
- Test it!

StartPatch est un homebrew pour les wii en 4.0/4.1, tout comme de Starfall pour 3.2, il permet d'installer des patchs directement sur le système wii afin débloquer des fonctions comme le menu rescue, lancement des jeux imports par la chaîne disque, blocage des mises à jour des jeux etc...

Voici un petit tutoriel vous montrant comment vous servir StartPatch !

Matériels requis :

- Une Wii en 4.0 ou 4.1 européenne.
- Une manette pour Gamecube pour le menu Rescue.
- Une carte SD.
- Un moyen de lire votre carte SD via votre ordinateur.
- La chaîne Homebrew.
- Le pack à télécharger.

- Placez le dossier : "StartPatch4.0E" dans le dossier "apps" de votre carte SD.

- Mettez votre carte SD dans votre Wii.


- Allez dans la chaîne "the homebrew channel".


- Lancez "StartPatch".

- Appuyez sur A.

Descriptif des Patchs

Remove NoCopy Protection : Patch pour supprimer la limitation de copie des sauvegardes protégés (comme Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart).
Pour l'activer totalement vous devez installer les 5 parties du patch une à une !

Region Free Channels SD : En appliquant ce patch vous pourrez lancer vos chaînes import du menu carte SD !

Remove diag disc Check : Permet de supprimer la limitation que seuls les disques autoboot puisse être lancés par le menu Rescue.

Press Y NGC-PAD 1rt Port : Permet en appuyant sur le bouton Y de la manette Gamecube, (branché en port 1), de lancer le menu rescue, utile pour débriquer une wii.

No Health Check : L'écran de santé Wii est automatiquement passé à chaque démarrage.

Region Free Wii Disk : En appliquant ce patch vous pourrez lancer vos jeux imports par la chaîne disque !

Region Free Wii : Complément afin d'assurer une parfaite free region de la wii
Pour l'activer totalement vous devez installer les 3 parties du patch une à une !

Skip Update Check : Ce patch permet de désactiver les mises à jour des jeux par la chaîne disque.

No Menu bg music : Ce patch retire la musique de fond du menu Wii.

Move Disc Channel : Ce patch permet de déplacer la chaîne disque comme n'importe quelle autres chaînes wii.


- Choisissez le patch que vous voulez appliquer
- Appuyez sur A pour l'installer ou B pour le désinstaller

Attention : Il faut parfois installer plusieurs patchs pour un même patchs.

Par exemple avec le patch Remove NoCopy Protection 1/5
Il faut installer un à un les autres patchs Remove Nocopy Protection 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 et 5/5.
Ainsi le patch sera intégralement installé.


- Une fois que vous avez terminé, allez sur "Save" (tout en bas)
- Testez !

It doesn't work for me, when I want to click on a mode it gives me:
"The patch section was not found in the DOL. Nothing to do".

Something must be missing in the file.

Ce ne marche pas pour moi quand je veux cliquer sur un mode ca me met:
"The patch section was not found in the DOL.Nothing to do".

Il doit manquer quelque chose dans le fichier.

That's because the patch is already installed

hi everyone is this a starfall for 4.0 and 4.1? will my autoboot dvds from hbc, wadmanager and system menu 3.2E still be good?

slt a tous c un starfall pour 4.0 et 4.1 ? mes dvds autoboot de hbc, wadmanager et systeme menu 3.2E seront ils tjrs bon?

It's indeed a starfall-like for 4.0 and 4.1.
If your DVDs already worked before on 4.0/4.1, they will still work

C'est bien un starfall like pour 4.0 et 4.1.
Si tes DVD fonctionnait déjà avant en 4.0/4.1, ils fonctionneront toujours

I tried but no dvd boots? I have a d2pro chip but no cioscorp? should I install cioscorp? or is the chip enough? maybe I set up starpatch wrong

j ai essayer mais aucun dvd ne boot? j ai une puce d2pro mais pas cioscorp? dois je installer le cioscorp? ou la puce suffit? peut etre ai je mal configurer starpatch

hi I can't uninstall the starpath patches, I get an error message "dol was not found", so how can I uninstall it?

slt je n arrive pas a desinstaller les patchs de starpath j ai un message d erreur dol was not found alors comment puis je le desinstaller?

I think that means it's already uninstalled, or that it was never installed before.

Je pense que sa veut dire que c'est déjà désinstallé, ou que sa n'avait pas été installé avant.

whether I want to install or uninstall I always get the same message even after disabling the preloader's patches? any solution? or is the preloader enough for me?

que je veuille installer ou desinstaller j ai tjrs le meme message meme en ayant desactiver les patchs du preloader? une solution? ou le preloader me suffit amplement?
